On this episode of The Jeff Robertson Show I sit down with Paden Squires, CPA, CFP, entrepreneur, husband, and father of three. Paden’s story is one of bold decisions, relentless discipline, and the mindset shifts required to grow beyond comfort zones.

Paden started his career in corporate finance, but he quickly realized the employee path was not the future he wanted. Without public accounting experience, and without a single client to his name, he left a Fortune 500 job and launched a tax firm from his living room. That leap of faith would set the foundation for what is now WR Tax Planners, a firm dedicated to helping entrepreneurs simplify complex financial decisions.

One of Paden’s defining moments came in 2014 when he passed all four parts of the CPA exam in just eight months. At the time, he was mentally checked out of his job, but that season of discipline reshaped his belief in what was possible. It showed him that consistent effort, even in less-than-ideal circumstances, could lead to breakthrough results.

A big theme in our conversation was unlearning. For Paden, that meant unlearning small thinking. For years he set safe goals because they felt achievable. The problem was that safe goals kept him playing at a level far below his true potential. Once he shifted his mindset and began thinking bigger, growth accelerated and impact deepened.

We also talked about what it means to “win the day.” With a thriving business and three young children at home, Paden relies on structure and self-leadership. His mornings begin with intention; reading, planning, or connecting with his team and family. Winning the day is not about perfection, but about consistent focus on what matters most.

Paden is also intentional about presence at home. Too many entrepreneurs let business become the mistress, pulling them away from family. He has made changes to avoid that trap, including building systems in his firm and making lifestyle choices that give his wife and kids more of him. As he put it, no amount of money is worth trading away time with family.

Right now, Paden is building two platforms. At Squires Tax Planning, he and his team are helping business owners move beyond tax preparation into year-round tax strategy. Through his podcast Behind Their Success, he shares the stories of entrepreneurs who push past limits, giving listeners both inspiration and practical takeaways.

Paden’s core message is simple but powerful: you are capable of far more than you believe. Too many entrepreneurs settle for small goals and safe paths. His journey proves that when you think bigger and commit to clarity and consistency, opportunities multiply.

This episode is a reminder that finance is not just about numbers. It is about mindset, intention, and building a runway for the life you want to live.
